The interview can be found in the section Video.
Amer, we congratulate you on signing the contract with FC Sheriff. What were your first thoughts when you got the proposal to play in FC Sheriff?
Thank you very much! A few days ago I got the proposal to play in this team. I think and I know that FC Sheriff is a very good team. I am glad that I signed the contract.
You have been in the team for a few days. What are your first impressions?
Yes, I have been in the team for a few days and my first impressions are very good ones! There are strong players in this team! They help me to adapt since the beginning.
Tell us about your career. We know that you were one team player – FK Sarajevo. You are also a trainee of this team. Was it devotion to the native team?
I was only the player of FK Sarajevo and I played for the first team for five years. Devotion? Perhaps! I also played for the youth national team of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Do you remember when you were appointed as a team’s captain?
Yes, I was the team’s captain during the last team. I remember my first match as a captain – it was a match against NK Celik. The previous season was a good one for me.
You became the owner of the National Cup with FK Sarajevo and also, silver and bronze medalist of the championship. Do you feel sorry that you did not become champions?
Yes, for the last four years we won the Cup of Bosnia and also took second and third places. It is a good result but not for FK Sarajevo. FK Sarajevo have not been the champion for seven years, and the team has the highest tasks.
Do you hope to become the champion in FC Sheriff and to play in the UEFA Champions League?
I want to play in the UEFA Champions League with FC Sheriff very much. I think my new club is able to do that.
You played in Europa League qualification with FK Sarajevo. I know that you played against Borussia Monchengladbach in the summer: you conceded 3:2 at home, and 7:0 in an away match. How did it happen?
Despite that we lost in the first match, the game was a good one for us because Borussia Monchengladbach is a big club. Unfortunately, we were won by miles. We were very hurt. But this is football.
What did the coach say to you after the match?
It is OK, you have just seen that Borussia is one of the best teams in Germany.
You are the second Bosnian in FC Sheriff after Mateo Susic. Did you know him before?
Yes, we played with Mateo in the youth national team of Bosnia. He helps me a lot in FC Sheriff. I am lucky we are in the same team.
Now you are partners and play as defenders. We expect concentration from you…
I play as a central defender. It is a very serious position but I like playing it. As far as I remember, I have always played this position, so it is not a problem for me.
What is your main goal, your football dream?
My dream is to play in a large European club. I hope I can do that.
