Both players of FC "Sheriff", called up to participate in the final tournament of the African Nations Cup went with their teams to the play-off round of the tournament and will continue to fight for the trophy.

Joao Paulo  and the Cabo Verde national team won their group with 7 points. In the last match of the group stage, Joao, came on the field in the 70th minute. Cabo Verde drew with Egypt (2:2).

Sedrik Badolo started in the starting lineup for the third round match against Angola and was substituted at halftime. Burkina Faso lost 0-2 and finished second in the group.

Matches of the first round of play-offs will be played on January 27-30.
