Aitor, welcome to FC Sheriff. You have been training with the team for a week. Do you like being in FC Sheriff? Please share your emotions…
I have been at the disposition of the club for a week, I start learning my partners and get involved in the team.
Let us talk about your career. As far as I know, at the age of 18 you got to the structure of Atletico Madrid. But before that you played for the team Alkala from Spain. What is this club like? Can you say that you were raised in this club as a football player?
I had been trained in Alkala since ten and after eight years I moved to Atletico. I think Alkala raised me as a football player and Atletico gave me professional qualities.
Was it a big step for you to be transferred to Atletico?
Of course, it was. First of all, I am from Madrid, secondly Atletico is one of the best teams in Spain, that is why this event was a step forward for me.
You are a native of Madrid. Why Atletico? Why not Real?
There are two teams in the city and I am the former player of one of them!
You played for Atletico’s third and second team for about five seasons. What did you remember most of all?
The partners who I played with. It is Koke from Atletico and David De Chea from Manchester United. I remember all matches.
Why do you think you were not able to stay in the first team?
There are moments in a person’s life when something is decided. I had a chance to get into the first team but the coach chose another player. This is life and I should move on.
Do you watch performance of Atletico?
Of course. I like the philosophy of Diego Simeone’s work. He encourages aggressive football, all his players are always set for the game. It is great.
Did you also celebrate their championship in Spain?
I did! It is honorable for every club to be ahead of Barcelona and Real.
Did you watch the final on TV or you managed to get to the stadium?
I watched the game with my friends. It was a tragedy for everyone at first to concede from Serhio Ramos and then it finally lost.
You moved from Spain to Romania. At first to Ceahleul where you spent three seasons then you moved to CFR Cluj. Tell us about this stage of your career…
I studied everything anew in Ceahleul because it was a different life, different football. And CFR it is a specific part of my career in Romania.
If I understand you correct, you and Mateo Susic left CFR because of the problems inside the club, right?
Besides inner problems in the club, there were problems with payment of salaries. And that influenced on leaving the club by most of the players.
Going back to FC Sheriff, how do the training camps go for you?
I need to do a lot because the guys were trained in Tiraspol for two weeks before and I joined the team in Turkey. I should keep up in order to be in the same shape as they are.
What did your parents and friends say when you signed the contract with FC Sheriff?
They were glad for me, because FC Sheriff is a good team which is popular in Europe.
