Abdoul Gafar Sirima: My main goal is a progress from game to game
FC Sheriff newcomer Abdoul Gafar Sirima talks about his position on the pitch and ambitions for coming season.
Abdoul Gafar, welcome to FC Sheriff. Tell us what did you know about your new football club?
My friend Cyrille Baiala was the first who told me about Sheriff. When he signed a contract with the Tiraspol club, I began to learn about it and the country in general. Florant Ruamba who had played for Sheriff before also shared good impression about the club. The club has high-levelled infrastructure, I think many of football players from my country want to try to prove themselves. Therefore, I am glad that a good fortune befell me.
Do you know some football players who play for the Yellow-Blacks now?
My friend Benjamin Balima helps me in all as concerns my adaptation in the club. Having visited the training camp in Turkey as part of FC Aktobe, I have got acquainted with Ziguy Badibanga. So I know almost all the Africans here and it is very important for improving game communications on the football field.
FC Tambov is the last club where you played. The weather in Russia isn't the most comfortable for the adaptation of the African football players. How you got through it and whether your last experience will help you with the adaptation in our region?
In RNFL I played in the summer and in the spring, therefore, I didn't manage to meet severe Russian winter. I don't think that in Moldova the climate is more severe than in Russia. I hope to get used to it as soon as possible and not to focus attention on it.
Tell about your position on the pitch.
I play generally in attacking. I like to attack from the different flanks, shifting to the center. The most important for me is to implement the coach's plan and not to make any mistakes during the game. I think that the forward in present-day football has to pay much attention to pressure in the opponent's half of the pitch.
Please, share your impressions with us.
My main goal is to improve myself from game to game. I wish to show my best and to achieve the new trophies with my new team.
