13 years of the second victory in Moscow
Today marks the 13th anniversary of the second big victory of FC Sheriff in the international arena. 2009 is one of the most successful years in the history of FC Sheriff. Probably because the year started off in the best possible way. The Cup of Champions of the CIS and Baltic countries, which took place in Moscow, brought our team the second international title.
Having not lost a single match in the tournament, the team, which was led from the bench by Leonid Kuchuk, on January 25, 2009, met an old acquaintance - Kazakhstan Aktobe. Familiar, because they met in the Champions League qualification. We were stronger then in the sum of two matches, we were stronger this time as well. In a penalty shootout. There were three such series in Moscow in 2009. And each was won, deservedly becoming the owners of the trophy for the second time at this tournament.
